10 Mistakes Smart People Never Make Twice
Smart people embrace mistakes for what they are -- great opportunities to learn.

Everybody makes mistakes -- that's a given -- but not everyone learns from them. Some people make the same mistakes over and over again, fail to make any real progress, and can't figure out why.
"Mistakes are always forgivable, if one has the courage to admit them."
--Bruce Lee
When we make mistakes, it can be hard to admit to because doing so feels like an attack on our self-worth. This tendency poses a huge problem because new research proves something that commonsense has told us for a very long time -- fully acknowledging and embracing errors is the only way to avoid repeating them.
Yet, many of us still struggle with this.
those who have a fixed mind-set always say this ("Forget this; I'll never be good at it") and those who have agrowth mind-set ("What a wake-up call! Let's see what I did wrong so I won't do it again").
"By paying attention to mistakes, we invest more time and effort to correct them," says study author Jason Moser. "The result is that you make the mistake work for you."
Those with a growth mind-set land on their feet because they acknowledge their mistakes and use them to get better. Those with a fixed mind-set are bound to repeat their mistakes because they try their best to ignore them.
Smart, successful people are by no means immune to making mistakes; they simply have the tools in place to learn from their errors. In other words, they recognize the roots of their mix-ups quickly and never make the same mistake twice.
"When you repeat a mistake, it is not a mistake anymore: it is a decision."
--Paulo Coelho
Some mistakes are so tempting that we all make them at one point or another. Here are 10 mistakes almost all of us make, but smart people make only once.

1. Believing in someone or something that's too good to be true.

Some people are so charismatic and so confident that it can be tempting to follow anything they say. They speak endlessly of how successful their businesses are, how well liked they are, who they know, and how many opportunities they can offer you. While we know that some people really are successful and really want to help you, smart people need to be tricked only once before they start to think twice about a deal that sounds too good to be true. The results of naivet√© and a lack of due diligence can be catastrophic. Smart people ask serious questions before getting involved because they realize no one, themselves included, are as good as they look.

2. Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.

Albert Einstein said insanity is doing the same thing and expecting a different result. Yet there are a lot of people who seem certain that two plus two will eventually equal five. Smart people, on the other hand, need experience this frustration only once. The fact is simple: if you keep the same approach, you'll keep getting the same results, no matter how much you hope for the opposite. Smart people know that if they want a different result, they need to change their approach, even when it's painful to do so.

3. Failing to delay gratification.

We live in a world where books instantly appear on our e-readers, news travels far and wide, and just about anything can show up at our doorsteps in as little as a day. Smart people know that true gratification doesn't come quickly and that real rewards are built on hard work. They also know how to use this as motivation to get them through every step of the arduous process that leads to success because they've felt the pain and disappointment that come with selling themselves short.

4. Operating without a budget.

You can't experience financial freedom until you operate under the constraint of a budget. Sticking to a budget, personally and professionally, forces us to make thoughtful choices about what we want and need. Smart people have to face that insurmountable pile of bills only once before getting their act together, starting with a thorough reckoning as to where their money is going. They realize that once you understand how much you're spending and what you're spending it on, the right choices become clear. A morning latte is a lot less tempting when you're aware of the cost: $1,000 on average per year. Having a budget isn't only about making sure that you have enough to pay the bills; smart people know that making and sticking to a strict budget means never having to pass up an opportunity because they've blown their precious capital on discretionary expenditures. Budgets establish discipline, and discipline is the foundation of quality work.

5.  Losing sight of the big picture.

It's so easy to become head-down busy, working so hard on what's right in front of you that you lose sight of the big picture. But smart people learn how to keep this in check by weighing their daily priorities against a carefully calculated goal. It's not that they don't care about small-scale work, they just have the discipline and perspective to adjust their course as necessary. Life is all about the big picture, and when you lose sight of it, everything suffers.

6. Not doing your homework.

Everybody's taken a shortcut at some point, whether it was copying a friend's biology assignment or strolling into an important meeting unprepared. Smart people realize that while they may occasionally get lucky, that approach will hold them back from achieving their full potential. They don't take chances, and they understand there's no substitute for hard work and due diligence. If you don't do your homework, you'll never learn anything -- and that's a surefire way to bring your career to a screeching halt.

7. Trying to be someone or something you're not.

It's tempting to try to be whom you think people want you be, but no one likes a fake, and trying to be someone you're not never ends well. Smart people figure that out the first time they get called out for being a phony, forget their lines, or drop out of character. Other people never seem to realize that everyone else can see right through their act. They don't recognize the relationships they've damaged, the jobs they've lost, and the opportunities they've missed as a result of trying to be someone they're not. Smart people, on the other hand, make that connection right away and realize that happiness and success demand authenticity.

8.  Trying to please everyone.

Almost everyone makes this mistake at some point, but smart people realize it's simply impossible to please everybody, and trying to please everyone pleases no one. Smart people know that in order to be effective, you have to develop the courage to call the shots and make the choices you feel are right (not the ones everyone will like).

9. Playing the victim.

News reports and our social media feeds are filled with stories of people who seem to get ahead by playing the victim. Smart people may try it once, but they realize quickly that it's a form of manipulation and that any benefits will come to a screeching halt as soon as people see it's a game. But there's a more subtle aspect of this strategy that only truly smart people grasp: to play the victim, you have to give up your power, and you can't put a price on that.

10. Trying to change someone.

The only way that people change is through the desire and wherewithal to change themselves. Still, it's tempting to try to change someone who doesn't want to change, as if your sheer will and desire for them to improve will change them (as it has you). Some even actively choose people with problems, thinking they can "fix" them. Smart people may make that mistake once, but soon they realize they'll never be able to change anyone but themselves. Instead, they build their lives around genuine, positive people and work to avoid problematic people that bring them down.

Bringing it all together.

Emotionally intelligent people are successful because they never stop learning. They learn from their mistakes, they learn from their successes, and they're always changing themselves for the better.
Do you operate from a growth mind-set or a fixed mind-set? What other mistakes do smart people never make twice? Please share your thoughts in the comments section below, as I learn just as much from you as you do from me.

Donald Trump To Chase Nigerians Out Of US...!

American Billionaire and Republican Presidential Front-runner, Donald Trump, has shot a subtle warning to the Nigerian Community in the United States, after he said all Nigerians would be made to leave the country “when he becomes President”.

He made the “threat” during a rally at Wichita, Kansas. According to Donald Trump, Nigerians ad Mexicans have taken all the jobs meant for honest hard working Americans.

“To Make America great again, we need to get rid of the Muslims, Mexicans and the Africans, especially the Nigerians. They take all our jobs, jobs meant for honest hard working Americans, and when we don’t give them the jobs, the Muslims blow us up”, Trump said.
Nnamdi Kanu's Lawyer Chased Out Of Court...!

Squabbles over legal representation for Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), on Monday, stalled his trial for alleged treason at the federal high court, Abuja. Vincent Obetta, Kanu’s lawyer, who has represented him since the beginning of his trial at a lower court, was not in court, but another lawyer, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, who claimed that he had been hired to represent the IPOB leader, showed up.

A mild drama ensued as Kanu’s younger brother, Emmanuel asked Ejiofor to leave, impressing it on him that Obetta was the legitimate counsel of his brother. Ejiofor tarried a while, but left afterwards.

The case, however, did not come up, and Obetta told TheCable that the Kanu family was still trying to sort out issues regarding legal representation for Kanu, who has been in detention since October 14, 2015. On December 23, 2015, Kanu had refused to take his plea before Ahmed Mohammed, justice of the federal high court, Abuja, citing lack of confidence in the court.

This was after Adeniyi Ademola, another justice of the federal high court, Abuja, ordered the Department of State Services (DSS) to release him unconditionally, and after a chief magistrate court discharged and acquitted of charges of criminal intimidation and ownership of unlawful society. Meanwhile, Obetta has refuted reports that Kanu is ill, and that he is being tortured in custody. According to him, Kanu is in high spirits and healthy.

10 Acts That Lead Some Young Guys To Early Grave

1. Sex

My evidence and research have shown that, kitty-cat has devastating effects in the lives of many unmarried dudes which has been leading many of them to early grave. Now that we are in an era where sex seems to be the most discussed topic on the internet, newspapers and magazines; therefore, nearly every dude wants to show his bedmatics skills to any lady that comes his way. Some dudes even go to the extreme by using all sorts of harmful substances just to show to a lady who falls prey to their gimmicks that are very skillful and a veteran bleeper, and you will begin to wonder if it's a sort of competition which will bring forth a trophy or something. Funny enough, some will even get laid with another man's wife, and in that process, they will have epileptic and wave goodbye to the earth cheesy

2. Money

Next in rank, money follows suite after kitty-cat. To a broader view, money can solve virtual every problem in our every day life and yet, the desperate chase of money has a series of terrific and unintended consequences. In recent time, you will see acclaimed men of God Bible quoting verses wrong and using the name of God to fulfill their selfish desire. And let's not forget the ones who condition the tithes and offering of the church into their pockets and will be riding new generation cars; yahoo guys who seek herbalists for MAGA to pay; politicians who embezzle public funds and so on. These aforementioned categories of people always end their lives in misery and calamity. They don't even need to go to heaven to receive their judgement, their punishment is right on earth

3. Alcohol/weed

Alcoholism and regular smoking of weed have also been leading many young dudes to early grave. This is because we Nigerians barely take precautions and do things without moderation even though we know the terrific consequences. After being drunk to stupor, some will drive carelessly and unconsciously ride themselves to out of this earth. I have even witnessed a scene when a dude boasted to his friends that he would drink three two bottles of Aromatic Schnapps. Of course he was able to drink it but guess what? He landed in hell fire few hours later cheesy

4. Gambling

Gambling can become a
problematic behaviour causing many difficulties. It is typically a progressive addiction that can have many negative psychological, physical and social repercussions. People dealing with this addiction can suffer from depression, migraine, distress, intestinal disorders and other anxiety
related problems. Ultimately, gambling can lead to violence and in some cases, suicide. A typical example is Bet9ja, especially when you want to win 10 million Naira, and you gave Chelsea straight win against Leicester City. You are likely to die of hypertension cheesy

5. Cultism

Many students form different anti social groups for friendship, acceptance, validation, to protect and boost the morale of the members but I can tell you that the purpose is seemingly to become tangled up in criminal activities and terrorism. When they are caught in red handed, they are going to be given jungle justice

6. Thuggery

I don't know what people stand to benefit from thuggery, especially those APC/PDP tyrants who display a degree of thuggery just help accomplish the desires of some politicians after they have been offered a little cash. These people may even lose their lives in the course of thuggery display cheesy

7. Laziness

The Bible says that "No FOOD FOR A LAZY MAN" but reverse is the case for some people. They are very lazy yet want to attain a great height in life. (Dem no dey use ear hear money cheesy ). They are so lazy to work, hence, looking for a shortcut to success or become rich. However, they are always looking for sugar mommy that will offer them N100, 000 for a night stand and will swap their destiny with 10 million naira

8. Robbery

In Nigeria, when thieves are caught, people don't even wait for the Law Enforcement Agents to take charge of the situation. Jungle justice is done immediately. Whether you steal a cube of sugar or a packet of gold circle condom, for all they care. Robbers are likely to end up in early grave

9. Fighting over a Woman

Guys who are caught in this act are nothing but dumb scull in my personal opinion. Why would a dude hear that his girlfriend is having a secret affair with another dude, and he will engage in a physical combat what that dude, without concrete evidence. Some of them will break bottles and will be ready to lay down their lives, all because they don't want a dude to have a secret affairs with their girlfriends

10. Feel free to add the last one

I drop my pen at this point

8 words of advice for the Unmarried Single Mothers

Having a child out of wedlock is not ideal in anyway and ladies should do their best to avoid this not by the sinful and barbaric act of abortion but by been careful to open up to a man who will love them enough not to abandon them and the child should pregnancy occurs.

Nevertheless,it is no longer a big deal that we have baby mamas who are never married and we have a growing number of this set of ladies due to many factors too numerous to elucidate upon.

The sad twist is that it is generally believed that such ladies usually find it difficulty to find a man that will eventually marry them due to the stigma of being a single mum out of wedlock.

In my opinion, being a single mother is no deterrent but most times,it is the approach of these ladies who find themselves in this situation that really makes it hard for them to get a man as fast as they would love to.

Here are very important list of advise that will be beneficial for you.

1.Be confident; Many men are very skeptical about fertility status of many ladies these days so as a single mum you should be proud of yourself that you are fertile and capable of procreating so carry yourself with dignity and be proud of yourself.

2.Look sexy: Get rid of that after child-birth pregnancy(protruding tummy) many Nigerian young mothers are known for. I CAN'T STRESS THIS ENOUGH.I guess this link will come in handy for you and other mothers because guys love flat tummies even after you have given birth to children.

3.Be selective: This might sound strange but if you have your way, look away from single never married guys. Yes this does not apply in all cases but i will be frank with you on this. You will be more appreciated by male divorcees, widower as well as the married men while single never married guys may just want to cool off with you. While you may ignore the married men, widowers, divorcees,or a never married single dad will make a better pair.

4.Don't discuss your child excessively: I have heard many single mothers say stuffs like..a man who will want me must want my child..

Well no man will ask you to forget your child but most guys are not interested in hearing you sing about the child, remember its not his child so in as much as a mother's love towards her child is strong, please try to avoid making it a subject matter even if the man also has his own children. Discussing your child excessively will take the shine off the affair.

5.Be in touch but don't take up the responsibility: This is one big mistake single mothers do. Except the man absconds or his family bluntly refuses to accept the child,DON'T EVER TAKE UP THE RESPONSIBILITY OF TAKING CARE OF THE CHILD.

In most cases, the baby daddy and his family are interested in the baby but not interested in the mother so many times these ladies usually hold on to the child because to them "if you don't want me, you can't have my child"

No matter the stress you go through in bringing the child up, you can never erase the paternity of the child and a day will likely come when the child will look for the dad or vis-à-vis and when the day comes, just one prostration and I'm sorry from the dad will melt the pains of neglect of many years so why insist on taking care of a child of a man who may come back to claim his biological child.

Please give the child to the father's family but be in touch, after-all nobody in this world can contest the maternity of the child. Abeg free yourself because its a turn off for guys when they want to woo a cutie and discover that the baby you are with is actually yours...its better to know latter.

Or better still give the child to a family member of yours and be free to rediscover yourself.

6. Be financially independent: Please understand that many men these days are struggling and it will be very unrealistic for you to expect another man to automatically take up another man's responsibility.

Yes some men will not mind to take care of you and your child or children but try to be financially independent in the little way you can so that while you expect some form of financial succor from any man that comes into your life, you will not stress him too much by wanting him to provide for a child who is not his.

7.Don't be a dumping ground: Many ladies have been enmeshed with self pity and condemnation that they just rush into any affair with guys who they will ordinarily never date all because they see themselves as after one as they call it.

There is a saying for single mothers in my dialect "omo bibi ki n se arun" meaning having a child out of wedlock is not a disease.

8. Be bold, and never allow any man love you out of pity or take advantage of you.

Hope this helps.

Is 2016 the year to transform your lack-lustre CV / resume and make it shine?

Is 2016 the year to transform your lack-lustre CV / resume and make it shine?

Most recruiters will have already decided whether you are a Yes or a No in the first 10 seconds of reading your CV or resume.

A typical recruiter, and let’s face it that is who we need to impress, will usually have a huge pile of CVs to read through from their advertising, and they will want to complete the task as quickly as possible.

This means they will only spend time on CVs which stand out and tell them what they want to know easily and without too much effort, and they will quickly reject those that they have to search through for the information.

If the first thing they see is a 6 page document, spelling mistakes, or job descriptions which are too wordy with no achievements, the likelihood is that their “No thanks” pile will get higher.

So what makes a really good CV or resume?

First of all you need a……

What Do Your True Colors Say About Your Commitment?

While Valentine's Day is A Point of Confession

Valentine is just few days away and lovers are busy planning the perfect getaway or gift for that special one.
I’m a bit indifferent about the Valentine celebration. It’s a good thing to celebrate love on a particular day but I don’t think one should wait till such a day to express or appreciate their loved one.
Love shouldn’t be something you express on certain occasions, it shouldn’t be a schedule. It should be done on daily activities. Good loving is the spice of every relationship and it’s not limited to sex. Sex doesn’t guarantee love in any way , Its just stimulate the closeness and commitment based on mind set.
The concept of love may be lost on some people going by the rate of heartbreaks and divorce nowadays but love still exists. I often want to believe that love is unrealistic because of the different meaning people attached to it or that human beings are incapable of loving but each time I ponder on this, there is an inexplicable reassurance that love does abide in the hearts of men. It all depends on one’s perception. To some, it’s simply materialistic, to others, it’s that indescribable feeling that makes your heart pitter-patter. It may mean good sex to others while some simply view it as a responsibility. All these perceptions are not wrong, love encompasses all these and much more. The tricky part of love is that it’s not always as it is in the beginning. This leads to the greatest test of love which is sacrifice, commitment, humbleness, humility and understanding.
So he no longer makes your heart race faster (than Usain Bolt) like he did when you first met, does that mean the love is no longer there? Of course not, it means two things, either you were infatuated in the first place or you stopped learning to love.
It’s always easy to fall in love but to keep loving inspite of the trials and temptations takes a very courageous heart.  Even when your relationship hits the rock, it doesn’t mean you never loved or was loved. The mere fact that you spent some part of your life with that someone accounts for something.
I see love as a daily nutrient we need to survive in this world because its always present in our daily activities. Even when the ones we love are no more with us, that flame of love still burns in our hearts gently as a form a hatred at times which shows the level of commitment or expectation as such.
Based on a life scenario, A woman whose husband died more than a decade ago still wore her wedding ring and as a result, people were anxious of know why she still wears her wedding ring and her answer astonished me. She said “Love never dies as long as you don’t stop believing.”
I mused on this for a while before I grasped the full weight of her words.
It’s all so easy to call it quits when our relationships go through hard times. We are tired of this or that and the next option is to walk out of the door without making attempts to resolve the conflict. We are too impatient to let love lead the way as long as the adrenaline is no longer there. But love is not like that. Love is patient. No other description fits the concept of love than the one provided in the Bible. Do you feel hopeless about love? Has your relationship lost its spark? You don’t need to act nonchalantly because your partner seems uninterested, he or she may also be in the same dilemma, so what do you do?
Learn to love everyday: He/she is not perfect, is just about taking full precaution and measure to know him/her better and always listing to his/her do and don't. You are not perfect either. But when you learn to love with an open mind, even when they are wrong, you accept their mistakes, you are growing in love. Start each day with love. Let it be part of your daily routine, to add a teaspoonful of love in your relationship.
Understand your partner’s love language: Each one of us has an encoded love language that our partner needs to decode. It may be little acts of service, physical touch, words of affirmation, lovely gifts or time spent together. You must know the right button to press to ignite that passion again.
Celebrate your love everyday: You must not wait till Valentine’s day or birthdays to express your love to your partner. Each day should start with a loving and kind word to show him/her how much you care.
Quit scheduling your sex life: For some couples, there is a timetable for sex. It’s either a quickie before leaving for work or an evening stroll before bedtime sex. This gets boring at a point because what was romantic for your partner an hour ago might become unexciting the next minute. Instead of waiting for the 9 O’ clock hour to bump and ride, give her the spontaneous cruise of her life. Simply get creative and whisper sweet nothings in her ears while she’s making dinner till she is down on her knees begging you, “Come on baby, light my fire.”
Have a forgiving heart: No matter how right you are and how wrong he or she is, no matter the mistakes, the recalcitrance, always be willing to forgive even before they apologise. Couples miss out on a second chance to make their relationship work because of unforgiveness. Learn to look beyond their mistakes and love them for who they are.
In the spirit of Valentine, I urge you to do more than say, “I love you” flippantly or humping and grinding in bed, rather reflect on the true meaning of love and learn to love that special one everyday of your life.
Happy Valentine in Advance!
